“You can’t be what you can’t see." According to a recent Girl Scout Research Institute study, “37% of girls are interested in politics, but they need mentors before they would consider running for political office.” If we hope to see more women in government and local leadership roles, we need to lift them up and support them.
This months speaker is Hernando County Commissioner, Diane Rowden. She has spent the past 25 years championing the citizens of Hernando County. Diane was on the county's School Board in the early 1990s, where she fought for better education for our students. She accomplished many things during her term, including changing the superintendent's job to an appointed position, rather than an elected position. Diane has also sat on the Board of County Commissioners twice before
