Are you passionate about a certain cause? Have you been volunteering with a nonprofit or charitable organization and considering becoming more involved?

As a second part in our nonprofit training series, we will cover three of the seven responsibilities of a board member in more depth. During this informative lunch workshop, you will learn about the importance of fudiciary oversight, strategic planning for future growth and how to leverage your sphere of influence to raise money for a mission you are passionate about!

Our speaker is Michelle Turman, MA, CFRE principal consultant of Catalyst Consulting Services whose mission is to facilitate nonprofit change in the areas of executive searches, governance and fundraising coaching, organizational management and strategic planning. With over twenty-two years of nonprofit experience, Michelle has been responsible for increasing the impact and best practices of nonprofit organizations she serves and has raised over $60 million for the Tampa Bay community through her professional and personal philanthropic efforts. Turman is a Key Partner and educational trainer for the Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay and at the Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership at Rollins College.

About Our Host:

In July of 2012, United Way of Tampa Bay and United Way of Sarasota consolidated creating United Way Suncoast — representing a four-county region including DeSoto, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties. In 2014, United Way Suncoast announced its five-year strategic plan to break the cycle of poverty by focusing on early literacy, youth success, and financial stability as its priority work.
