The second annual Tampa Bay Theatre Festival has chosen the 5 plays that will compete for best full length play this coming Labor day weekend.September 4- 6 and all five were written by women.  The festival website is www.TampaBayTheatreFestival.com for full info on these plays.

The latest statistics on published plays indicates that only 22% of all plays published world wide are written by females so this is a pretty awesome achievement.  The plays were read blind (no names on the top) so these choices were made solely on merit.

One of the plays being presented, "Dinner for Six", was written and directed by, long standing Working Woman member, Lil Barcaski who is also nominated for best local playwright in Creative Loafing's "Best of the Bay - 2015".

The Story: As the result of too much wine at a dinner party, a group of friends decide to produce a play that two of them saw while on a trip to New York with their high school drama club twenty years earlier. The play had a profound impact on them and in their memories was "the greatest play ever".
Once they are knee-deep in the commitment to do the play, they realize that their perceptions as teens may have been a bit off. To add even more twists, the young man they hire to fill the lead role will change their lives forever.

This hilarious comedy with a dramatic twist takes the audience on a journey of friendships and laughter and explores sexual identity,  the parameters of relationships and being true to oneself.

"Dinner for Six" premiers at the festival at Stageworks Theater on Saturday, Sept. 5th at 7pm.
To purchase tickets go to: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/dinner-for-six-a-twisted-comedy-by-lil-barcaski-tickets-17693236948

The show will then travel around the Bay area through Oct 5th.  Other show dates can be found on the website at: www.GypsyStage.com
